Dalian Launched the Multi-Functional PV Module Project

On April 17th, the first building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) automation production line was built up in Dalian for demonstration purpose, which is also the only multi-functional photovoltaic module production line in China. Mayor Li Wancai and Deputy Mayor Qu Xiaofei cut the ribbon to start the production line and attended the technological cooperation signing ceremony for Golden Sun Demo Program.
BIPV refers to the photovoltaic matrix integrated with a building on the facade to provide power, which can be applied to skyscrapers, resident block buildings, large squares, exhibition centers, and any other medium and even large constructions. It is forecast that PV glass roof and curtain applied with BIPV will be the new trend for the development of solar power generation system as part of the power grid.
This BIPV production line invested by Minneng Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd is capable of producing common PV modules, glass/glass laminate modules, and insulating PV glass curtain, taking the lead in China in terms of both equipment advancement and automation, especially the proprietary intellectual property right in BIPV insulating glass curtain which fills national gap. This project is designed to produce 25 megawatts modules every year and expected to achieve an annual output value of 500 million Yuan.
Accelerating the progress of National Golden Sun Demo Program is one of the important actions for Dalian to build solar PV based strategic Hi-tech industry. To this end, Minneng signed the technological cooperation agreement with Dalian A-star Group on April 17, to undertake the 1MW BIPV Project for Lvshun Agricultural and Sideline Product Logistics Base under the organization of Dalian Municipal Science & Technology Bureau, Dalian Financial Bureau, and Dalian Development and Reform Commission. According to this agreement, both sides will explore the application of BIPV insulating glass curtain in reality.
Mr. Qu said that the launch of the production line signaled the new development and leap of PV industry in Dalian, which will broaden the PV market and fields for application to a great extent, promote the progress of Gold Sun Demo Program effectively, and move forward the development of strategic emerging industries and the buildup of green and low-carbon economy.
